Highlights
The Mexican construction industry recorded a CAGR of 6.74% over the review
period with strong performance between 2005 and 2008. The industry declined by
7.1% in 2009 because of the overall economic slowdown. Commercial construction
market was the worst hit in 2009 which declined by 20.4% in 2009 over its value
in 2008. Mexican economic growth was strongly correlated to the health of the US
economy because of its reliance on the US for trade. The commercial construction
and residential construction markets were driven by, to a large extent, the
remittances made by Mexicans working in the US and Canada. To revive economic
growth, the Mexican government introduced several business friendly fiscal and
monetary measures. The Mexican construction industry is expected to recover and
witness a CAGR of 5.73% over the forecast period.
