No one likes shaving their legs. It is something that has to be done daily or at least weekly for most women as well as for professional swimmers and some other male athletes. The frustration is spending all that time going over every inch of the leg only to find those stubbles of new hair growing right back the next morning. This is why people have traditionally turned to an epilator. These devices look similar to an electric razor but they are made with tiny tweezers rather than razors. The tweezers pull hair out from the follicle deep under the skin, rather than just shaving it off from the top as a razor would do.Women have always seen the epilator as a torture device that was a necessary evil. Those who want to get rid of their leg hair removal for long periods of time will spend a little time with their epilator every month or two. The fact that they can get rid of their hair for a month or more at a time is a great convenience that saves tons of time over every morning shaves.

Yet, there are some down sides to using an epilator. The number one down side is the pain that they cause. As those tiny tweezers yank hair from under the skin there is continuous pain and discomfort. Some women are unable to stand the pain and would rather just shave every morning while others grow numb to the pain with time and are able to tolerate it more and more with every epilator session. Here's the great news: many women and some men are now taking advantage of laser hair removal as an alternative to the epilator. Just as the manual razor and electric shaver were replaced by the epilator in the homes of many women, the epilator is now being replaced by KPL hair removal procedures.Laser therapy removes hair by damaging the follicles with direct rays of light. The sprays of light get down into the follicles and heat it up to the point damage is sustained. The result is a stop to the follicles producing new hair in the future. Patients must go in for multiple treatments until all hair follicles have completely stopped producing hair.

Unlike the epilator, there isn't any pain involved with this procedure. Also, with adequate treatment you can become permanently hair-free. That is one thing that an epilator can't do! A month without hair is great, but a lifetime without hair is even better. The main disadvantage to laser hair removal is the expense. You will pay more for these treatments than you would ever spend on an epilator. You have to ask yourself whether the possibility of completely eliminating your hate relationship with leg hair is worth the small investment.Remember, epilators are cheaper but they are also painful and they cannot permanently get rid of hair on your legs or any other part of your body.If laser hair removal is an option in your mind, think about seeing a local provider for a consultation. You are not locked into having the procedure from this but will be able to have all of your questions answered. You will also have an evaluation to make sure your skin is a good candidate for the procedure.
