The Oklahoma Sex Offender Registration Act was enacted in the interest of public safety, to allow law enforcement and Oklahoma citizens to be notified of the location of habitual sex offenders and aggravated sex offenders. For those convicted of sex crimes in Oklahoma, failure to comply with the registration requirements is a felony, punishable by up to five years in prison and $5,000 in fines. The Oklahoma Sex Offender Registration Act provides specific requirements for when and how a sex offender must register with local law enforcement.
