It is essential to feed plants regularly but too little food or food in excessive amounts is not advisable. Advising on fertilizing plants is a challenging job. There are many factors that affect the fertilization like soil types, climatic conditions, existing nutrients etc.

A minimum of 17 nutrients are required for survival of all plants. Some of the nutrients come from water, some come from air and others come from soil. Nutrients come from soil when a plant is fertilized. Three nutrients are most essential during plant fertilization. They are potassium, phosphorous and nitrogen and they are known as primary nutrients. Every fertilizer has 3 numbers on the labels for indicating the percentage of the primary nutrients in it. Molecular form, solubility etc are other factors that affect nutrient availability.

Premium fertilizers are also essential for agriculture and gardening purpose. These fertilizers are group of plant nutrients called micronutrient which promote healthy growth of plant just like the primary nutrients. However, these nutrients are needed in very small quantities by a plant. Choosing fertilizers with micronutrient package is the best choice.

Plants that are transplanted recently and young plants grow rapidly. These plants root system are less developed in comparison to the matured and established plants. Thus these plants need supplemental fertilization more often. Annuals need many nutrients to maintain their flowering and rapid growth. Fertilize fast growing and young plants every 1-2 weeks with soluble fertilizer for getting the best results. For established trees and shrubs 2 or 3 feeding in spring till early summer is more than enough.

If you select to apply dry fertilizer, put it in a place where it can get into the root of plant (within the region between drip line and trunk). The fertilizer should be spread evenly over the full area. Apply the fertilizer during spring. If there are trees and shrubs planted in the grassy areas, apply the plant nutrient products in several little quantities to avoid grass burning. If you select to apply slow release plant fertilizer, you should surely take note of the label.

Fertilizing dry plant is a very bad idea. The plant should be watered thoroughly prior to the day of fertilizing. Make sure to irrigate between fertilizations. Read the directions of fertilizers before applying. Never use too much of fertilizers. It is better to use it more often than applying it all at once. Excessive use of it burns roots and kills plant.

Nutrient deficiency in plants also takes place when one or more essential nutrients are in short supply or are unavailable. Nitrogen deficiency is commonly seen. Most of the deficiencies are quite hard to diagnose. These deficiencies can be avoided with sufficient amount of fertilizers.

However, it is important to purchase fertilizers from trusted source so that you can have confidence on the nutritional products that are you are paying for. Angus Horticulture Ltd is passionate about offering high service standards and quality plant nutrients to their customers.
