The decades old partnership of between Sony Corp. (SNE) & Sweden’s Telefon AB L.M Ericsson (ERIC) has come to an end by January 2012, as per official sources. Sony will pay EUR1.05 billion cash to acquire 50% share of Ericsson. Now, company is targeting the Android crazy crowd and precisely working on manufacturing of Google’s Android Operating system based mobile handsets.

The Sony Ericsson Managing Director, P Balaji said that “Focus on Android OS takes us away from IP (Intellectual Property) related issues. It allows us to focus on marketing products. In new phones, we have used some widgets to make it easy for consumers to explore new applications. Company will focus on areas like mobility and broadband based applications, which are the key to next generation cellphones. Consumers in India are looking for entertainment and internet based content. Young Indians prefer texting and chat over voice call...We have started putting all this at one place.”
