If you are looking for a nursing job then you are probably already using the HotJobs, CareerBuilder, Monster or some of the other online job boards. These sites are really helpful as they allow you to post your resume, be the first to learn for the latest job offers and keep in touch with all of the job spots available in your area.

Those job boards make it very easy to search for a job and apply for any open nursing jobs available, however, you might be disappointed to hear that these boards are one of the worst ways to find a proper nursing job. Yes, these boards are free, but have you asked yourself how they profit? They sell resume databases and advertising to employers.

After reading the above statement, you've probably guessed that the job boards don't work for the prospective employees, but for the paying employers.

The dirty secrets of the Big Job Boards
Monster.come is one of the most famous job boards and it really gathers huge amount so f job seekers. However, all of them are competing for a very small number of jobs. Just 3% of all available job spots are advertised on Monster.com. Most job seekers assume that those job boards work just like Google, but in fact sites like Monster, CareerBuilder and HotJobs offer their resume database to employers.

Employers are the one who benefit the most from job boards as they fetch about 500 resumes. Although this is great for employers, it is really bad for employees. If you do the math you'll see that you have just 1/2 percent chance to be invited for an interview.

The worst thing about those job boards is that they don't let you show your uniqueness to the employers. You can only show your resume and it is really hard to compete with all of the other employees while having just that.

Use A Job Search Engine
Looking for work takes some time, but don't just hop from job board to job board, applying for every job. A good way to save time is to search for jobs through a meta job search site. Now you know the best job seeking tactic, you just have to figure out how much time you want to spend doing it. Remember that just 5% of open job spots can be found via job advertising.
