As a parent you have the responsibility of providing your kids with good education, nice clothes and a host of other wants. However, that does not stop there; you are also expected to ensure that your children have the right moral development. With the proliferation of the internet, there has been a concern about the kids' safety on the internet. Although much effort has been put in protecting children against the vices in the internet, more is desired.

The internet is a source for a many learning resources and it gives the kids a lot of time for fun. It is this same internet which poses major threats as far as the moral development of these kids is concerned. This has caused lots of worries among parents on their children's safety especially behind the screen after the many available censorship programs have been proven futile. Pornographic contents such as videos, pictures and text have been a great concern on the internet for many years now. Some extreme situation have come u with the introduction of instant messaging and chat rooms. Sit has been noted that some adults are posing as children who are chatting with unsuspecting minors with other organizing for secret meetings. Even though some websites have introduced checkpoints where such scenarios can be identified, a large number of them have failed in playing it off.

There are websites which contain explicit pictures which are exposed to children. A small number of them will bother to have warning messages on them to alert the visitors the type of material they are likely to encounter. This is a problem for kids as there is no check before any entry into such sites. The other worry facing the kids using the internet is the receipt of spam mails containing explicit graphics and videos or other information. The list of threats is endless.

While a way of guarding kids from the exposure to such adult content is still at large, a few internet safety rules for kids can ensure the safety of the kids. Advise your kids to avoid exposing their personal information on the net. Details including their names, school, location, and phone numbers among other should not be misused. The children should not accept to meet persons from the internet without a parent or guardian being around.

Limit the amount of time that your children spend on the Internet. This is because the more time they spend online the more they are likely to be exposed to unsafe content. Use software that will filter explicit sites to ensure child safety on Internet.
