Two men have been ordered to stand trial for killing a Fairfield city councilman in a case of mistaken identity over a $50 drug deal.
Solano County Superior Court Judge Robert Bowers ruled Friday there is enough evidence to try Henry Don Williams, 32, of Fairfield, and Gene Allen Combs, 45, of Suisun City.
They are accused in the Labor Day slaying of 22-year-old councilman Matt Garcia.
Witnesses said Williams mistook Garcia for a drug dealer who had reneged on selling crystal methamphetamine to Combs. Garcia died outside his girlfriend's house near the alleged drug dealer's home.
Both men remain jailed for a Feb. 18 arraignment.
Defense attorneys said Williams didn't intentionally kill Garcia and Combs didn't know Williams would shoot.
