Every brand of high-end, super-luxury sports car always has its diehard advocates. A loyal fan base cannot be convinced that their favorite automobile is less capable than their rival. In this regard, Ferrari and Lamborghini are no different. One thing is for sure: both brands manufacture cars of the greatest beauty and the most superior performance.

Historically, one of Ferrari’s most popular models, the Testarossa, offered a 12-cylinder, mid-engine design. It’s spectacular appearance was only rivaled by its performance characteristics. Anyone, not just a redhead, was sure to be noticed in this magnificent, wheeled beast. For pure power, torque and handling ability, this machine was unrivaled.

Another blast from the past is the similarly engineered Lamborghini Countach. Cabin-forward design coupled with a powerful mid-engine power plant, the Countach provided ample reason to exclaim at its beauty. Sleekly designed, its appearance benefited greatly from the addition of wheel spacers.

More recent developments in the product lines of these two companies are equally compelling. One of the latest production designs offered by Ferrari is the California. It is a 2+2 hard top convertible capable of the most spectacular performance. Top speed is 198 mph and 0-60 is accomplished in 3.4 seconds. The driver can even put the top up at the insane speed of 125 mph.

The Diablo, the Murcielago and the recently introduced Aventador are Lamborghini’s latest and greatest designs. All provide the most exceptional driving experience. For instance, the Murcielago’s V12 delivers 0-60 acceleration in a heart stopping 3.3 seconds. Top speed is over 200 mph. The Aventador delivers even more; top speed of 214 mph and 0-60 in 2.9 seconds.

The ultimate question of which is better is intractable. It is an extremely difficult to choose one brand or even model over the other. There are countless subjective choices to be made. In addition, innumerable aftermarket products have been introduced to offer the ultimate in customization on these unbelievable cars.

With money and imagination, any of these cars can be transformed into anything imaginable. They are such superb creations, as they stand, that one wonders why anyone would change them.

Nevertheless, from the seemingly innocuous to the fantastically unrealistic - wheel spacers to refrigerators - all it takes is money to realize your dream. These cars are not for everyone, least of all the faint of heart, but the cars of Ferrari and Lamborghini provide an out of this world driving experience. Owning either is a uniquely rewarding experience. It is simply impossible to choose between them. The real winner is simply anyone lucky enough to own one of these masterpieces of automotive design and engineering.
