A Columbus man has been ordered to serve to 10-15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl and fathering her child.

Twenty-year-old Austin Mathiasen was sentenced for attempted first-degree sexual assault in Platte County District Court. He pleaded guilty to the charge in November in a deal with prosecutors.

Mathiasen had faced up to 20 years in prison.

The victim says in court documents that she was assaulted by Mathiasen in the basement of her home in late November or early December 2007. She gave birth this past summer.
