Though termites are good for the environment because they eat dead and rotting wood, they cannot differentiate between the wood they find in nature and the wood they find in a home. Therefore termites are not biased and will eat away at the structure as well as any wooden furniture if they take up residence in your household.

There are plenty of termite and pest control services available to take care of your pest control problem. However, if you prefer to take charge of the termite control yourself, there are some safe and simple techniques you can use.

Termites can live indoors or outdoors, as long as there is wood to feed on. Mulch is a common outdoors hiding spot where you will likely find termites. Sugar cane mulch is a type of mulch that termites will stay away from, but it can be hard to get a hold of. Besides protection against termites, sugar cane mulch is also good for soil improvement, moisture retention and soil erosion prevention.
