Light is arguably the most important element in plant growth. A plant will not be able to make food in the absence of light and thus will not be able to grow at all. Thus, as a hydroponics farmer, you need to ensure that you do not get it wrong when it comes to lighting.

Hydroponic grow light varies throughout the plant growth and thus the farmer should be able to change the plant lighting system as the plants keep growing. During the highly vegetative stage just before the plants flower or during the fruiting stage, daylight spectrum is proven to be the best and thus should be used during these times.

Plant lighting is such an important activity in hydroponics growing as it directly affects the level of yield that one will get at the end of the growing period. Whether you are a hobbyist or a professional gardener, proper hydroponic grow light is ultimately of the essence to you.

Right from the germination point, you need to make sure that the optimal light conditions are available to the plant. The types of bulbs used usually dictate the type of light produced by the bulb. Compact Fluorescent Lamps (CFL), for example, are a perfect light source for seedlings, cuttings and young plants. The use of these bulbs will lay a good growth foundation for the plants and are highly recommended to be used during the early stages of the plant growth.

Fluorescent tubes T5 and T12 help theblooming process. Full spectrum light spectrums are the ones used for most part of the plant growth. Metal Halide (MH) HID growlight bulbs, on the other hand, are particularly suited for a plant’s vegetative growth stage while High Pressure Sodium (HPS) HID growlight bulbs provide the best results during the fruiting and flowering stages of the garden.

The number of individuals in the UK who choose to buy lighting for indoor growth is booming. With rising prices for vegetables and fruit in supermarkets and the travel time and inconvenience of shopping trips, hydroponics is a popular leisure activity. It also helps feed the family, and is a green way to move forward in ones life.
