College athletes who drink certain flavors of the sports drink Vitaminwater are breaking NCAA rules, according to a story reported by the Brown Daily Herald.

The paper said the school's athletic department forwarded word to student-athletes that six flavors -- Power-C, Energy, B-relaxed, Rescue, Vital-T and Balance -- contain banned substances or things trainers may not give to athletes.

Part of the problem is from caffeine levels that are too high, along with the use of taurine and guarana seed, the paper said.

Vitaminwater is made by Coca-Cola, which sponsors some NCAA events.

The company has nine other flavors that are considered acceptable.

The National Center For Drug Free Sport made posters that were sent out by the NCAA that show exactly which flavors are acceptable for student-athletes to drink, Deadspin.com reported.
