Every home requires water and a healthy water supply all determined through a good plumbing network. Plumbing is an essential ingredient within any home and as long as it is put in place correctly when the house was first built will ensure a good working water system.

A priority with all water systems is that the water must flow with an even and constant supply with it being hygienic and clean. As every home owner will agree, a basic knowledge helps immensely but if this is not apparent then having knowledge of a qualified plumber is essential.

We all take the supply of water for granted. Turn on the tap and hay presto it appears, ready to drink or simply for use when cleaning. However without adequate plumbing in place the ability to ensure you are receiving water that is hygienic is a worrying aspect. The standard basics for plumbing revolve around the supply of water alongside its waste disposal. Whether in the bathroom or kitchen the instant you turn on the cold water tap you are greeted by a steady flow of cool water that is immensely pleasurable for drinking. The priority being that this is exceptionally clean and this is all feasible through a filtration system which is attached to your water system. The filtration system is usually only fitted to the cold supply making it to a standard of cleanliness worthy of drinking. Most homes will have a standard supply of hot water without the filtering system as this is not so much prioritised for drinking. This is because the plumbing system is set up differently through different channels for both the hot and cold water feed. The hot is usually connected to heating elements which allows us the ability to have a steady flow of hot water on request.

Another priority for plumbing within the home is the waste disposal. The toilet is paramount and to ensure it works efficiently and safely it needs to be correctly plumbed in to the sewer system. This in turn needs to be formed around a good drainage system, without this the waste will soon accumulate resulting in blockage and then possibly worse, a flooded bathroom. Unfortunately nature and wear and tear results in most drains becoming damaged at which point an experienced plumber will be required to inspect and conduct surveys as what, why and how to eradicate the blocked drain.

Baths and showers are prime locations where plumbing is required. The bath is a simple hot and water feed, however the shower can be a little more complicated depending on whether it is an electric shower or thermostatic etc. However more and more homes now feature the condensing combination boiler which allows a cost effective measure for heating the home, whilst continually providing hot water on demand.

One of the more annoying reasons where plumbing become a necessity is throughout the cold winter months. This is the time when freezing pipes create havoc starting leaks and other concerns where a plumber is required. However such problems can be eradicated through precautionary measures. As with all maintenance around the home prevention is usually the best way in which to save money, but if you do require the services of a plumber always ensure you use a qualified, respected and trusted individual.

Bath Depot is one of the UK’s leading retailers of Insignia steam showers, steam shower baths, steam shower rooms and accessories for the bathroom.
