If there is one GPS tracker product line that has done well in the last 12 months it has been GPS trackers with SOS.

Cautious parents and guardians are grabbing these functional GPS tracking tools that can act as a two-way communication device and a tracking tool.

This makes them great as products to be listed on eBay, Amazon or your own e-Commerce website.

But before you do you will need to be cautious not to fall into the same GSM frequency trap that has caught many an unlocked cell phone seller.

** Why Is There Demand For GPS With SOS Calling? **

Most GSM compatible GPS trackers are so well put together that they can be worn around the neck or thrown into the pockets of a pair of Dockers without troubling the wearer.

They don't only keep track of where the wearer is they also act as a two-way communication device.

How this device differs from a cell phone though is that it is limited to one contact only which means that they can't use it to call any other people and it is a lot less expensive to maintain than a cell phone.

Parents who want to know that their children are not only safe but also growing as individuals think giving their children these devices is better than setting strict rules about when the child has to be home and where the child is able to go.

The devices' notification settings can usually be set up in one of two ways.

It can be programmed so the GPS tracker sends a location to the parent at set intervals. Anything more than five minutes is usually acceptable.

They can also be set so that it does not send a notification unless your kid goes outside the virtual boundary you have set.

And if the teen is ever in danger they can get in contact with the parent and tell them what's going wrong, with the GPS tracking function the parent will know exactly where to head.

Caregivers and those taking care of people with disabilities or the elderly also appreciate these devices for the same reason.

** Why Is A Dualband GPS Tracking Device With SOS Calling Bad **

Not every GSM device works in every corner of the world.

There are four main GSM frequencies: 850 megahertz, 900 megahertz, 1800 megahertz and 2100 megahertz.

900MHz and 1800MHz are the frequencies used by the majority of GSM networks in Europe, Asia, Oceania and Africa, 850MHz and 2100MHz are used by North and South American mobile networks.

GSM devices don't just rely on one frequency and usually can cope with two or three or more at the same time.

There are four types of compatibilities available.

* Quadband devices that work in all corners of the world
* Tri-band devices that kind of work in both places
* Dual band devices which only work in the Americas or only work in the rest of the world

US destined dual band devices are quite different to ones that have been built for Europe or Asia. If a customer from the US, for example, buys a dual band GPS tracker for use in their own country without knowing which bands it works or doesn't work on they may have got themselves an expensive paperweight.

Before you put any GPS tracking device for sale on eBay or on your website, make sure you clearly note their operating frequencies. Also include a disclaimer so that people know exactly what they're dealing with. Be clear about it – and save your own skin.
