Warning lights are important not just for emergency vehicles, but for all the other vehicles as well that ply regularly on highways. These lights emit intense beams of light which attract the attention of other vehicles and illuminate the roads well and prevent any mishaps.

Vehicle warning lights become very critical during an emergency when an alerting signal has to be sent across to other vehicles and their drivers. It could be to request for help during a crisis, for example, in case of highway wreckage or to alert other speeding motorists to be aware of road repairs or traffic diversions. Whatever is the reason, emergency vehicles like traffic and highway patrol cars, ambulances, fire engines and construction vehicles carrying heavy machinery, should be well equipped with advanced warning light mechanisms that can be easily operated under all kinds of weather conditions.

There are many different types of warning lights based on the lighting output, the features they offer and the position at which they can be mounted. You can go for full length or mini light bars which measure anywhere between 15 – 75 inches in length and are laced with light heads of all sizes, including gyratory beacons, strobes and flashing alley and takedown lights. These are ideal for vehicles plying at full speeds which would need a clear pathway and hence have to send across the message to other vehicles around to pull over without causing hindrance. There are beacons which can be mounted with magnets and rotate in all directions to alert the motorists. You can also go for dash, deck and visor lights, which are smaller in size and can be easily mounted in any corner as an effective secondary line of warning.

warning lights can also be mounted in composite headlights or above tail, turn or brake lights for additional visibility over a long distance. These lights can be mounted easily in the front on the bumper or grille of the vehicle or on the rear deck. Special provisions allow mounting ease on all kinds of surfaces, flat as well as curved. Slim warning lights can be installed at flexible angles and mounting positions for maximum lighting. The use of replaceable, polycarbonate clear lenses has further enhanced the quality of the warning light that can be emanated from these emergency lighting devices. These lenses are virtually undetectable when the lights are not turned on and hence are ideal even for stealth or unmarked vehicles.

Vehicle warning lights use 60 or 90W halogen lights or LED strobes which combine dozens of 1W LEDs to provide super bright and highly penetrative warning beams. The advantage with 1W LEDs is that these 5mm lights can easily be replaced if required, ensuring that your lights are operational at all times. Besides, LED lights are far more energy efficient offering excellent luminosity with a lower wattage. The high intensity warning light heads can also prove extremely handy during search and rescue missions where highly focused beams of lighting would be required. A warning light with selectable flash patterns would be an added bonus, as flash patterns enhance the visibility of the light. Slow and steady flash, rapid and blinking flash, sequential flash and alternate flash are some of the patterns used in distress lights, especially those with multiple modules.
