Periyar National Park - This national park is famous for elephants. It is situated at a distance of 120 KMs from Kochi, in the Western Ghats Mountains. Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary - It lies at a distance of 60 KM from the hill station of Munnar. It is a picturesque sanctuary which is full of greeneries and is also the home to many animals like spotted deer, elephant, panther, horse deer, gaur, Endangered Indian Giant Squirrel, rabbit, langur etc. One can get a beautiful view of the Western Ghats while driving towards this sanctuary. Kumarakom (Vembanad Bird Sanctuary) - This is a paradise for bird lovers and is situated in the midst of the backwaters in Kerala, in the district of Kottayam. It is the home to many migratory birds as well as local birds like cuckoo, egret, owl, waterfowl, Siberian crane, darter, moorhen, parrot, teal, and flycatcher etc. It is highly recommended for all bird lovers and is also included in packages.
