So, you have installed a state-of-the-art home alarm system and you think you and your family are the safest you can possibly be. You have contacted the best Chicago wireless security company in the area and they have installed door sensors, window sensors, motion detectors, surveillance cameras, remote panic alarms, and a master control pad to run the entire system. You feel like you can finally relax in your home; however, there may be one component of an alarm system that you are missing that could actually make you even safer. This component is a driveway alarm.

Now, you might think that installing a driveway alarm as part of a home security system is frivolous and a waste of money, but you would be wrong. This is particularly true if you have a long driveway that has a number of areas that are concealed from your line of sight when you are in your house. Driveway alarms are designed to alert homeowners when someone enters the driveway. It offers homeowners an extra layer of protection and can provide additional time for the occupants to notify police or to get to somewhere safe if they feel threatened.
When criminals decide to break into a home, one of their best tools is the element of surprise. If they
can sneak up on a house and break in before the residents have time to react, they have a much better chance of getting what they want before the authorities can arrive. However, if they are detected as soon as they enter the property, they are more likely to get caught. For this reason, it is a good idea to advertise the fact that your house is protected by an alarm system at the very perimeter of your property line. Burglars who see this will most likely decide not to take a chance at breaking into your house.

Having a driveway alarm is also beneficial if you store items of value outside of your house. These items could include vehicles, bicycles, lawn equipment, and any other big-ticket item that is too large to bring inside. These are items that are usually easy pickings for criminals because they know that most people only protect their house and its contents with a security system. To avoid detection, burglars will take what they can from outside the house instead of risking a break-in.

There are many benefits to having a driveway alarm installed as part of your overall security system. Not only does it give you extra time when someone crosses your property line, but it also allows you to protect your belongings that you keep outside. If you’ve already installed a security system with all the bells and whistles inside and around your house, consider installing a driveway alarm to make your property even safer.
