The Fujifilm FinePix S2950/S2990 features a body designed to look reminiscent to that of an SLR, although it is actually a fixed-lens camera. Based around a 14 megapixel image sensor, the front panel of the S2950 bears a Fujinon-branded 18x optical zoom lens. The S2950 lens offers actual focal lengths from 5.0 to 90.0mm, which equates to 35mm-equivalent focal lengths ranging from a useful 28mm wide angle to a very powerful 504mm telephoto. Maximum aperture varies from f/3.1 at wide angle to f/5.6 at telephoto. The image sensor allows capture of not only high-resolution still images, but also of high-definition 720p video at a rate of 30 frames per second. Given the extreme telephoto reach, mechanical image stabilization is obviously a necessity to fight blur from camera shake, and the Fuji FinePix S2950 includes sensor shift stabilization.
There is no true optical viewfinder on this model, with images and movies being framed and reviewed either on an electronic viewfinder of unspecified resolution, or on a 3.0-inch LCD display with 230,000 dots of resolution. That is roughly equivalent to a 320 x 240 pixel array, with each pixel comprising separate red, green, and blue colored dots.
Overview
Fujifilm has introduced a new & well designed Super-zoom camera- Finepix S2950, which is a user friendly camera with a host of useful and enthralling features at an affordable price. This camera comes with Fujinon 18x Wide Angle Optical Zoom Lens and 3-Inch LCD, which gives the crystal clear images or pictures with closer look. It is launched as a successor of Finepix S800.
Design and Looks
You will get the Fujifilm Finepix S2950 in matte black finish with chic looks. The camera is designed with 4 AA batteries It has 3.0inch LCD display with 230k dots of resolution, which is meant for stimulating pictures of good quality but the video quality from this DSLR is OK and only fine enough for Youtube clips if not much else. The body of the camera is made with a fine material which makes it more durable. It is very comfortable to hold for longer periods of time and weighs just 400g with battery.
Controls
The controls in Fujifilm Finepix S2950 are nearly the same to those of fujifilm Finepix S3200 and Finepix S4000. Unluckily, its photo potentialities and shooting performance entail a lot of conciliation. Although it's not a bad camera, but also not a very good one to consider die heartily.
Key Features
Fujifilm Finepix S2950 camera has 14.0 megapixel CCD sensor, which helps to transfer each pixel?s charge via partial number of output nodes, to be converted to voltage and set-off chip as an analog signal, which in turn result into crystal clear photography. This image sensor would in turn allow you to capture not only high-resolution still images, but also captures high-definition videos with 720p at rate of 30 frames per second with one touch ease. The 14.0 megapixel means that the image quality is going to be nothing but fabulous! The 35mm focal lengths ranging from a useful 28mm wide angle to a very powerful 504mm telephoto, helps to view the pictures you are going to capture in a crystal clear way.
The camera also allows you to tag the pictures you want to attribute in an Image book, which can be observed separately in camera and later formed and controlled in an Image book quickly and impeccably. The Finepix S2950 also included the feature like Motion Panorama shooting mode, which takes 3 consecutive shots with an accommodating tool, which involuntarily discharge the shutter once the images are fully aligned to flawlessly stitch the shots together in-camera. Moreover, this feature allows users to get creative and see impressive results with no fear of uneven landscapes or shaky horizons.
Compatibility and Performance
There is a mini HDMI output connector assembled in the camera, which makes it uncomplicated to connect and view images on your HDTV. The shooting performance of Finepix S2950 is practically sluggish as compared to other models in the same series. It includes a duo of low-resolution burst modes that are faster, but the results are only fine enough for web use at small sizes.
Cons
Images viewed at smaller sizes are evidently soft and smeary starting at ISO 200 but if you want to do a lot more cropping and to enlarge the images, the results might not be good enough. From there things just look worse to the point where they really aren't usable for much at ISO 800 or above.
Verdict
The Fujifilm Finepix S2950 is a compact, elegant and moreover, affordable camera. The indicator of blurry shots over 200 ISO did not match your expectations from lenses. If you want to own a camera having astonishing features at an affordable price, this is the camera for you. Else, NOT
