In anticipation for prom night, not only girls but also boys have to search for the perfect outfit in order to be able to impress everybody with their good looks during this memorable event. However, this is obviously a much more difficult task for girls looking for fancy prom dresses. They do not only have to find the right gown, but also worry about matching up their make-up, hairstyle, jewelry as well as all different kinds of accessories. This situation becomes even trickier once a girl has a date for prom night, as she will probably want to coordinate her outfit with that of her date. For boys, in turn, simply choosing a chic tuxedo for the evening will also not suffice if they plan to attend their prom together with a girl. Consequently, it is essential for them to choose outfits that will go well with the prom dresses of their dates. Most importantly, do not purchase your tuxedo before your date has bought her dress! Remember that you are the one who has to adjust to your date’s outfit, as this is the gentlemen thing to do. Do not expect her to select another gown just because you have bought a tuxedo that does not match. Girls rarely ever change their minds and choose another dress once they have found one that they are all crazy about. Therefore, wait until your date shows you her dress and then consult with her what kind of style should be chosen for your tuxedo in order to make your outfits match. For instance, a romantic type of dress will go nicely with a tuxedo that has a very formal and classic look, such as a tail coat. Stores that specialize in men's apparel can also be of great help with regard to the choice of your tuxedo, since many of them offer professional advice when it comes to coordinating tuxedos with prom dresses. A good idea would be to visit such a store together with your date and show her dress to the shop assistants. This will give them a better idea of what your tuxedo should look like in order for it to match your date’s gown. Moreover, the color of your tie is also of major importance. Obviously, it should go with the color of your date’s dress, but at the same time also include a second, more distinctive and contrasting element. If your date chooses to wear, for instance, a red gown, pick a tie with red and white stripes. Also, do not forget to wear a shirt underneath your tuxedo that matches your tie as well as your date’s outfit. All in all, it should be kept in mind that prom dresses and tuxedos do not necessarily have to be coordinated with each other. If a girl selects a gown that has an extremely vibrant color, her date might actually feel more comfortable wearing a more traditional black and white outfit instead.
