You are on your way to success, if you are creating pocket folders for your company portfolio. Pocket folder printing is easy and simple to understand so while you are it make sure your inserts and other company essentials like your business cards are also done.

Question you should ask yourself when starting to create the folders:

1. What will you using the pocket folder for? (So you can focus)

2. Generally how do you want the folder to look like? (So you can easily pick your colors and other printing choices)

3. What documents will be included in it? (So you know what slits, pocket type and dimensions to choose)

4. Will it be used for a while or just for this particular project? (So you know how much to print)

Make sure you know the following before heading out to the printers:

Dimensions. Your sizes are normally based on your normal bond paper which is either the legal size, letter size, A4 and A5. You can also have your folders smaller if you need them to be. Should your papers have various sizes check the tallest and the widest paper and use that size. You can also choose to have the orientation of your folder to landscape if your papers are mostly in the same orientation.

Edges. Your edges can be rounded if you want to see a softer look for your folder. You can also keep it as it is.

Slits. You have the choice to include a business card or a CD to your folder which in turn will require slits so that it can be seen easily in your pocket. Slits can be as many as you need just be sure that the card or the CD it is holding will not fall should the folder be carried.

Pocket type. You have the choice to have one or two pockets in the folder and you can also pick which side it is. You can also choose if the pocket folders are cut horizontally or vertically. You can also have a little customization included by requesting for a different cut for the folder should you need it.

Paper stock. Have you seen other company folders and notice the thin shiny plastic sheet on the print? That is the paper stock and that is what makes the folder and the print keep longer. You can have the choice of gloss, matte or a thinner gloss.

Colors. Your choice of colors may not be exactly the same color output the prints will have so ask the printers what colors are available first. Make sure you focus on this as colors affect people’s perception.

Other things you can include. If you have quite a number of papers to add in your folder, request for a thicker or a pocket that allows extra capacity. You can also request the edges to have some reinforcement to make it sturdier.

Pocket folder printing can take a little less than a week to finish but if you really need a faster turnaround time because you will be meeting clients, then request for a rush print. Rates normally change based on your turnaround time, so if you want your folders to be a little cheaper do it earlier so you can get the regular printing turnaround time which is normally five days.
