Snohomish County authorities say more than 150 dogs living in filthy conditions were seized in a raid on puppy mill in Sultan on Friday night.
More than 80 dogs were found in crates and small pens filled with feces in a converted attic inside a residence in the 43000 block of May Creek Rd.
A tip led deputies and officers to the residence and enough information was gathered to obtain a search warrant for the investigation of animal cruelty.
Officers found a variety of small breed dogs: Yorkshire Terriers, Rat Terriers, West Highland Terriers, Chinese Crested, Pugs, Dachshunds, Pekinese and mixed breeds sold as "designer dogs" in addition to six large dogs: a Labrador and Doberman tightly squeezed together in one crate, a Rottweiler, a Mastiff, and two Boxers.
Officers say most of the dogs were heavily matted, covered with their own feces and saturated with urine. Many dogs had open sores on their bodies and all were covered with fleas. Several dogs had tumors and other abnormal body conditions.
Investigators say the puppy mill operation included a detailed breeding plan posted on a wall inside the residence.
The dogs, along with four cats and three birds, are being cared for at the Everett Animal Shelter.
No arrests have been made in the case, but the investigation will be referred to the prosecutor’s office for review.
