There is something very special about Traditional radiators. These classic cast iron radiators have a unique and elegant design that looks amazing in any interior setting. You can really glam up drab interiors with the addition of this attractive and cost effective heating system.

Traditional radiators

One of the great things about Traditional radiators is that they can combine beauty and functionality. Not only are these radiators a great aesthetic addition to any room but they can also provide fuel efficient heating. That is great news when you consider just how high the costs of energy bills are getting these days for the average homeowner.

If you are thinking about switching to traditional radiators then there will be a number of considerations for you to make.

- You should think about consulting specialist heating engineers if you currently have modern radiators. Switching from modern to traditional heating can require some additional upgrades to your heating system and you may need a different boiler.

- Heating engineers will also be able to advise you on the number and size of cast iron radiators you will need for your property. Because traditional radiators produce higher heat outputs than modern radiators you may need smaller or less radiators than you had previously in your home.

- Think carefully about the space you have available for traditional radiators. They can be bulkier than modern designs so you do need to make sure they don’t intrude into rooms. You can get special streamline designs if you have any awkward or narrow spaces.

- You should position traditional radiators in the coldest part of the room. This would normally be the window space as this will be on the exterior wall. You will need to make sure you have the plumbing infrastructure in place to install traditional radiators.

- Be wary when buying reconditioned traditional radiators. You must check that they have been properly tested (for leaks) and come with a warrantee. You will not be able to tell if the radiators leak until they are fully installed. Without a warrantee you would then have to replace any faulty radiators out of your own pocket.

- If you don’t want exposed traditional radiators in your home then you can get radiator covers. These are available in a number of attractive designs to suit your interiors. They are a good idea if you have young children as cast iron radiators can get very hot to the touch when in operation. Radiators covers can help to prevent any accidents.

- You can find reputable traditional radiator manufacturers online. This is a good way to search for traditional radiators for your home as you can quickly and easily browse online catalogues from the comfort of your own home.
