A lemon car is a vehicle that has faults that cause the vehicle to be dangerous or perform improperly. Usually these defects don't show themselves when you first purchase the vehicle. The vehicle is branded a lemon if these defects are still not solved after numerous repair attempts. In cases where the automobile has been taken in for the same issue three or four consecutive times while under warranty it can be now known as a lemon car. One example of a malfunction is one that has brakes that don't work. When the automobile is new, there can be mechanical faults caused by design mistakes or issues during the assembly of the automobile. Also if the automobile has been inoperable for a prolonged rate of time it could be covered lemon laws. Used vehicles are often damaged, not properly maintained, not fixed the right way after an accident, or altered with to change the mileage. Issues like these are also preserved under lemon laws.

There are a couple of different ways to get help from lemon laws if a car has been acquired and is not working properly. The first way is compensation for breach of warranty. This encompasses warranties from the manufacturer and extended warranties. In usual circumstances a general manufacturer warranty is typically 3 years and or 36,000 miles. Certified manufacture warranties are normally one year and an extended warranty starts after the manufacturer warranty expires and can last for five years or more. Any cases involved with warranty breach are covered by federal lemon laws. Another type is a case where there is not a warranty. In this situation it can often be termed violations of the consumer protection laws. Some samples can be: a pattern of mechanical problems, a restored or wrecked vehicle, or a rolled back odometer.

To get a thorough knowledge of state and federal lemon laws, it's in your best interest to talk to an attorney who is knowledgeable with that particular state's laws and rights passed on to consumers. These attorneys will recognize the laws and have the capacity to help determine if the car is indeed a lemon car. An attorney will also be able to ascertain what information is expected for proof and a solid case. A lawyer is able to counsel you and show you all the possibilities open to you. Knowing what rights are granted and safeguarded should save money, time, and much aggravation. Remember to document all repairs and maintain a detailed history of the automobile.

Fortunately the lemon law is a way to help consumers when they have bought a vehicle that is considered defective and is not safe or does not run properly.

A lemon car is an automobile that has defects that have been repaired several times but is still defective. As a consumer you have a right to find an attorney and possibly obtain payback if exact state or federal requirements are met.
