Bird hunting and that includes Pheasant hunts are not as difficult or dangerous as the bear hunts but there could be difficulties for the hunter in other forms. One of the difficulties could be unfavorable climate. It could be hurricane, over clouded atmosphere, or any such thing. In such cases the objective of the hunter should be winning over nature and unfavorable climatic conditions confronted by them.


Climatic Vagaries


Very often in their pursuit of hunting, the hunters encounter climatic conditions unfavorable to the hunting pursuit. Even if it may not be a hurricane or cyclone, high velocity wind can play a vital role in thwarting the hope of getting good prizes. Most important; the weather can dramatically change in places where usually the pheasants are found and the bright sunny day can suddenly become dark cloudy and windy affair.


Beating the Wind


Some of the important aspects of beating the wind during pheasant hunts are as follows.

• Hunter should be adequately equipped and dressed to meet the onslaught of the gushing winds

• While moving in the wind it would be good leaning towards the incoming wind while leaning back a bit if the wind is passing in opposite direction

• Hunter may not go far away in the open and should be in a reasonable proximity of some shelter where he or she can take refuge at real times and

• One has to be careful moving in the jungle to escape flying branches and debris.


Birds Will Still Fly


One of the unique features of pheasants is that despite high winds, they wills still fly. However most of the times they will fly in the direction of the wind blowing. While shooting at the birds in such conditions may be one of the most difficult propositions it could still be possible with some of the best shooters around.


The Difference


Major difference between bear hunts and hunting the pheasants is that the target is much greater and easy to strike in case of the former. Bears do not fly and they can be shot even when on the run easier than the high flying pheasant. Yet the adventure and thrill involved lure many hunters to hunting pheasants instead.


To top it all, hunting pheasants do not involve the dangers of hunting big animals like the bears.
