Psoriasis is a common skin disease that affects between five and seven million Americans and lives through the life cycle of skin cells. These skin cells build up rapidly and once they reach the epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, forming thick silvery scales and itchy, red spots and dry, often painful.Psoriasis is a persistent, long-term ( chronic), and there may be times when the psoriasis is worse than others, but always comes back.For some psoriasis, is a nuisance, but for most patients, which is debilitating.
