Home Remedies for Carpet Stains, Ways to Remove Carpet Stains

Precious and expensive carpets can be saved by using inexpensive home remedies for carpet stains without damaging the knitting and thread of the carpet. Carpets do get stained there is no way out to protect them, if there are pets in the house or children then stains occur regularly. Even if there are no pets or children stains occur due to spills or due to mud in the shoes and dirt coming from outside. Regular discoloration damage the fiber and carpets wear out very soon. Home remedies for carpet stains do not require harsh chemicals or expensive cleaning agents and are mild on the fiber and hard on stains to remove them. There are certain types of household items which cause stubborn stains and some can even be smelly.

Stains formed by acid, coffee, beer, soft drinks, chocolates, chewing gum, dye, ink, nail polish, grease, paint, rust and blood are hard to go by and some of these can stink if not cleaned and removed. All of these items are used in homes regularly and sometimes in a hurry, causing spills or slips to form a stain on expensive carpet. Home remedies for carpet stains can help to remove such discoloration without damaging the fabric.

Stains formed by paint are extremely difficult to remove but home remedies for carpet stains provide an effective solution to it. Scratch the stain with spoon or dull knife to remove the thick part. Apply isopropyl alcohol first and blot up the moisture, repeat it for few times. Next step is to mix few drops of dish washing detergent with warm water and spray on the stain and blot up the moisture between applications. Later apply plain water and blot up the water again and again for few times till stains are out. This is one of very effective home remedies for carpet stains.

Nail polish discoloration are also hard to go by and can occur at any time. Apply nail polish remover on a cotton towel and rub the stain over and over again till there is no transfer of stain on the towel. Now mix few drops of dish wash detergent with warm water spray the mixture on the stain, keep blotting up the moisture between applications. Later use plain water and cotton towel to wet the stained area and blot up the moisture. This is one of the most effective home remedies for carpet stains and removes nail polish stains very well.

To remove chocolate stains apply ice to the stain to harden the remaining chocolate and scrap it out with dull knife. Mix one part of clear ammonia with 4 parts of water and spray the mixture on the stain and blot up the moisture with cotton towel till stain stops getting transferred to the towel. Now mix few drops of dish washing detergent and water and spray on the stain and rub it with cotton towel till stain stops getting transferred on the towel. This is one of the home remedies for carpet stains which can remove chocolate stains in most of the cases. This remedy is also effective to remove soft drink stains, use this remedy in the same way with similar ingredients for clearing soft drink stains.
