Tibet is the highest region in the world and is located in Southwest part of China with Lhasa being its capital city. It is a mysterious land with snow-clad peaks, unique culture, wonderful mountains and beautiful rivers. Tibet is also known as Xizang and commonly referred to as the "Roof of the World" Tibet tourist destinations are visited by travelers from all around the globe.

Lhasa, the capital city of Tibet has always been the political, cultural and economic centre of Tibet. It is also known to be the heart and soul of Tibet. It is an object of devout pilgrimage and the abode of the Dalai Lamas. Some popular places of interest in Lhasa are; Norbulinka Palace, Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple and Sera and Drepung Monasteries. The Bharkhhor circumambulation and the Jokhang Temple are home to many innumerable shops with peddlers selling prayer flags and Yak skulls are visited by many pilgrims. Jokhang Temple is situated at the center of old Lhasa. It is the spiritual center of Tibet. Potala Palace is known for its elegant buildings, grand constructions, pious religious atmosphere and exquisite artworks. Norbulinka Palace is the summer palace of Dalai Lama. It lies in the beautiful garden in the western part of Lhasa. Lhasa is one of the most important Tibet tourist destinations.

Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world is also known as Mt Qomolangma which means Mother Goddess of the Universe in Tibetan. It is situated at the border between China and Nepal. Mt. Everest is one of the most popular Tibet tourist destinations.

Namtso Lake is also one of the most popular Tibet tourist destinations. It is situated at an altitude of 4720 meters. The color of water is blue and is crystal-clear. This lake is the highest salt water lake in the world and also the biggest lake in the Tibet. Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarova are the "Sacred Mountain and Holy Lake" of the Buddhist, Hindu and Bon religions. They are situated in the region of Purang.

Shannan Region is situated in western part of Tibet. It has the most profound culture and is believed to be the richest region in Tibet. It is the birth place of Tibetan culture with many cultural and historical relics. Shannan region is home to vast grassland, primitive forest, splendid mountains, mysterious holy hill and lake.

Tibetan cuisine has influences from Chinese and Indian methods of cooking. The main food ingredients consist of barley, dairy products and meat. Some of the popular dishes of Tibet are Sha Balep (bread stuffed with seasoned beef and fashioned into semi-circular or circular shapes), Momos (it is a steamed bun, heavier version of Chinese baozi), Shab Tra (stir-fried meat tossed with celery, carrots and fresh green chili) and many more.
