Beyond how much you get paid, picking the right city to live on can affect how much you save. If you want to save it might be a good idea to avoid Taipei city. Taipei city is the most or can be the most expensive city in Taiwan to live in. Instead, go for smaller cities such as Kaohsiung, Taichung, Tainan and any city outside of Taipei. You'll get paid the same but the cost of living is usually much, much lower. You'll save money on rent, food, transport and just about every aspect of your daily life. Saving money teaching English in Taiwan is possible if you plan ahead and prepare yourself. Spending money in Taiwan can be easy if you aren't careful and you may find that you aren't saving any of your monthly paycheck. If you want to save as much as possible make the decision to look for work in areas outside of Taipei.
