Cocaine is a crystalline alkaloid that is obtained from the leaves of the coca plant. It is a stimulant of the central nervous system, an appetite suppressant, and a topical anesthetic.



Specifically, it is a drug detox and rehab that mediates functionality of neurotransmitters as an exogenous catecholamine transporter legend. Because of the way it affects the mesolimbic reward pathway, cocaine is addictive. With excessive or prolonged use, the drug can cause hallucinations, and paranoid delusions. Subjective effects not commonly shared with other methods of administration include a ringing in the ears moments after injection, lasting 2 to 5 minutes including tinnitus & audio distortion. Unknown fact about drugs injection that remains to be known is that according to a study, shared needles can spread blood diseases such as Hepatitis C.



Cocaine is the second most popular illegal recreational drug in Europe (behind marijuana). Since the mid-1990s, overall cocaine usage in Europe has been on the rise, but usage rates and attitudes tend to vary between countries. Countries with the highest usage rates are: The United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Ireland.



About 3.5 million or 87.5% of those who have used the drug in the last year are young adults (15–34 years old). Usage is particularly prevalent among this demographic: 4% to 7% of males have used cocaine in the last year in Spain, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The ratio of male to female users is approximately 3.8:1, but this statistic varies from 1:1 to 13:1 depending on country.



The production, distribution and sale of cocaine products is restricted in most countries as regulated by the Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, and the United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances. However, Powder cocaine is frequently cut/diluted with other materials such as baking soda, corn starch, talcum powder, sugar, or vitamin powders.



Pacing up illegal market of Cocaine has resulted in increased number of drug victims consequently leading the number of drug detox and rehab centers.
