Tata Safari is an SUV that has been given the shaped by Tata Motors of India. It is the earliest SUV designed, manufactured and developed completely in India. Initially it was released in the year1998 with the Turbo Diesel engine of about 2.0 litre. Then, in 2005 it was modified extensively with the addition of new 3-litre DiCOR engine in addition to the modified exteriors and interiors. This 3-litre engine is the earliest diesel engine by Tata Motors with the ordinary rail technology. 2-litre petrol engine was also added to the series in the same year. But it was abruptly put back by the much sophisticated DiCOR 2.2 VTT engine with the power output of 140 PS at 4000 rpm and a torque output of 320 N•m at 1700 rpm. It is extensively observed as the finest engine used by the Tata Motors. Recently, Tata has launched a latest variation of safari with the name Safari GX.
