A teenage girl was transported to a hospital after two pit bulls attacked her on Thursday afternoon.
The attack happened in the 5200 block of Northeast Fourth Avenue, which is near Commercial Boulevard and Interstate 95, as a 14-year-old girl was riding a scooter home from a Walgreens store.
The girl said two pit bulls attacked her, that the dogs bit her in the arm, Local 10's Roger Lohse reported. The girl apparently fought them off and got away from them.
Neighbors said the girl had bite marks on her arm and scratches on her legs.
Authorities have not found the dogs implicated in the attack. It is unclear who owns the dogs. Neighbors said they have seen several stray dogs in the area before and that a smaller dog was killed there recently.
The girl was taken to Holy Cross Hospital for treatment. She is expected to be OK, Lohse reported.
