Milford police have charged a city man with providing alcohol to minors in connection with a fight over a beer keg that cost a teenager an eye.

Officers arrested 21-year-old John Thiel on Sunday. They said he bought the keg that sparked the brawl at Walnut Beach.

Witnesses said the fight broke out when people who were not invited to the party appeared to be stealing the keg. Police said a 17-year-old boy was struck in the face with the keg tap and his eye had to be removed during emergency surgery.

Police have arrested seven people in the case. Brian Matyasovszky, 24, is charged with assault on accusations of striking the teen in the face with the tap.

Thiel is scheduled to appear in Superior Court on Jan. 13.
