Rescue 4 Investigator Karen Drew shares what she called one of the more challenging and emotional stories she has ever covered in her career.
It involves a man who was a former gym teacher and coach in metro Detroit for years.
He had a great reputation and received awards and recognition throughout his career.
But a Rescue 4 Investigation into his past reveals a person with an evil and sinister side.
Watch Local 4 News at for the story.
The man admits on undercover tape to molesting a 13-year-old former student, a girl he coached. The attack happened inside and out of the middle school, even at times during school hours.
The story brings up a wealth of emotions for the victim and the admitted sexual attacker.
The statute of limitations has passed in terms of convicting the coach. So even though he admits to molesting the girl, the law can't touch him.
Some may say, "Time has passed, this guy has moved on and built his life. Leave him alone. Since he can't be convicted why do the story?"
But Drew said her job is not to be a prosecutor, or the police, but to be a reporter and tell stories. Drew said the story needs to be told.
Drew said the story is so important to tell because the victim in his case truly feels there are other students who were molested as well. There could be women right now dealing with similar pain but just haven't had the guts to come forward.
Experts say if an adult molests a child, it is very likely that person will do it again.
Are there more women out there who have fallen victims to this coach? If the attack has happened in the past 10 years, the coach could be convicted.
Sunday on Local 4 News at 11 p.m., hear the secret recording of the coach admitting to the sexual molestation, and then see what he does and what he admits to when confronted at his university coaching job.
