A Greene County man is going to prison for using a dog shock collar and water to punish his children.

David Liskany learned his punishment in court Friday. At his sentencing, Liskany said, "I am very, very sorry for the mistakes I've made."

Judge Timothy Campbell said, "You don't put shock collars on children."

The judge also expressed his disgust at other abuse suffered by the children. Prosecutors say the children, ages, 14, 13 and 4, were held under water in a pool, forced to take cold showers and even had water forced up their noses. Judge Campbell said, "When I read all this it sounds more like something out of Guantanimo than from a family in the Jamestown area. The only thing you didn't do was put cheesecloth on their faces. They were basically water-boarded."

Family friend, Ron Miller said, "We know David as a person with strong character, a good provider who has a positive effect on his family."

Liskany's soon-to-be ex-wife also tried to convince the Judge that David needs counciling, not prison time. Wendy Liskany said, "I feel by not enabling David to work in society, it will be tough on my family because I will not be able to provide for them."

Prosecutors said Liskany has a split personality. Garrett Gall said, "When he began this treatment of his children, he had plenty of time to get help with his family and he never did that." They recommended a sentence of 4 years behind bars. However, Judge Campbell shocked everyone when he sentenced Liskany to 16 years in prison.

After the sentencing, Liskany told the court, "I am very sorry for all the trouble I caused so many people, my children, my wife, my parents."
