Two Bellevue women are being held on $50,000 bail for allegedly tricking an elderly man into marriage to steal his money.
On Tuesday 56-year-old Sujinda Yahatta and 29-year-old Kulany Roeksbutr pleaded not guilty to charges of kidnapping and attempted theft.
Prosecutors say the masseuse and her friend kidnapped a 78-year-old client from his senior home and took him to Bellevue District Court on Nov. 22. A marriage ceremony was performed between the man and Yahatta. Afterward, police say, the two women took the man to his Bank of America and tried unsuccessfully to take money out of his account.
Police say Adult Protective Services contacted them about the incident.
The women were arrested by Issaquah Police earlier this month and booked into King County Jail.
They could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
