Individuals who are employed in H2b jobs like temporary and seasonal manual labor oriented positions are required to have H2B working visas in the United States of America. This non-immigrant visa allows foreign citizens to enter the country and temporarily engage in short-term or seasonal employment.

According to the U.S. regulations, H2B visas can be offered to around 66,000 non immigrants, each fiscal year with 33,000 visas being allocated for the first half and the second half of the year, respectively.

For procuring H2B visa that is much needed for getting temporary employment, you must consider a few things namely, the temporary nature of the job, being employed by a US employer, the stipulated period mentioned in the visa and agreeing to return to your own country after the expiry of the visa.

Mostly, people doing such jobs are employed in construction sites, manufacturing units, hotels, tourist spots, restaurants, retail stores, ski resorts, cruise ships, landscaping, janitorial jobs and amusement parks among others. You need not possess a valid degree for being employed in H2b jobs and this categorizes the employment under unskilled labor.

Being in H2b jobs has its share of advantages since, you can travel inside US till the date of the visa expiry and shift jobs. It is even possible to study in the country with a H2B visa. You can also extend your stay for almost three years, if you submit a labor certification from your new employer to the government authorities.

The labor certification is procured by an employer from the Department of Labor in the United States. The employer must substantiate the necessity of employing temporary non immigrant workers owing to the unavailability of workers locally, to the department. The USCIS then has to cite its approval for H2B visa or extension.

Ideal for those who wish to visit the country, during a specific period of time and earn a living, H2b jobs should be obtained after seeking professional help from immigration attorney, to save yourself from any kind of legal problems. An attorney specialized in this kind of visas might know the nuances of applying, processing and obtaining the visas, perfectly.
